One of the Filipino's most unique and disgusting delicacies is Balut. To put it bluntly, Balut is a duck that is three days away from being hatched. The egg is boiled and then eaten. The Filipino will crack the top of the egg and drink the membrane soup. They then, will eat the remains of the duck. Disgusting, I know. Last night at McDonald's Brother Jon ate two Baluts, to the delight of the Filipinos and the disgust of the Americans. We haven't seen him since.
We warned him that his wife had kissed him for the last time and I think that sent him over the edge. Also, promising to eat Balut before we leave, Josh Maher (we keep telling him to call his mother), Lauren Greene and Amanda Beck. We will keep you updated on their progress.
I apologize for the grotesque details of this post, but we just wanted to give you an idea of what really goes on in this place.

Josh Maher -- you dont even like pudding because of the consistency. I cant imagine that you could stomach the duck soup. Dont even think about it. You'd end up over the toilet, and I dont mean on it. Thanks everyone for encouraging Josh to call his mother. I only gave birth to him, that's all, no small feat -- look at him. Seven hours of labor. But that's OK. I'll just find out via everyone else and not my own flesh and blood. Thanks, Josh. I believe that you love me in your own way. Is downing the soup some way to show me you love me? If it is, find another way?!? Again, dont do it. I know you. I know your stomach because I've cleaned up after you too many times :-)

Thank you to all of those who have been on to Josh to call. He did not call, but he did email. I guess that is the best I can get. He's a boy. But at least I got that, right?

Josh -- it is 10:20 p.m. here, and I am guessing that you are going to be speaking to the young people soon. I know you must be nervous, and I want you to know that I am praying for you right now. I am praying that God will speak through you. He has used you already. I am so happy that you have allowed Him to work through you, and I hope that you will continue to allow Him to work through you when you return back to Cleveland. This is so what I wanted for you, and I am so jealous because I never had this opportunity, although I'm not sure I would have had the guts to do what you are doing. I am so proud of you. Just know that I am praying for the Spirit of God to empower you as you are there, not only now as you speak, but through this next week.
